Hi,

Are the Ati cards (2600, 2800 etc.) supported by powerstrip?

Thanks,

Erik Question

I would like to know too, and extend the question to with Vista? The new Nvidia driver will not allow custom timings. The porch settings are way off and I cannot get enough width on my XG @ 72Hz refresh. The MSI RX2600PRO-T2D512E is looking pretty good it does have a fan but in my application that is not a deal breaker. Decent price also about $90.

Thanks Guys,

It looks like I will be getting the Ati card then.

I notice you are all using the 2600XT, is this enough card to play hd-dvd and blu-ray. My CPU is a AMD Athlon 64 4800 x2 overclocked to 2.65 Ghz.

Thanks,

Erik

I just got a RX2600PRO-T2D512E has 512 Mb for $85 local, New Egg has it for $78 + 20 rebate. With PowerStrip, Vista and the latest ATI drivers, PowerDVD works flawless with the combo drive. It fixeds several of the problems I was having with the Nvidia card that was actually underrated for the task to be honest.

I watched Spiderman 3 last night and didn't see a dropped frame, tons of fast moving action too. I was negative about ATI but this card looks like a winner. Only drawback it does have a fan, but in my application that was a non-issue.

Mike,

Do you mind if I ask what your HTPC is (RAM, CPU, etc.)

Thanks,

Erik

Sure

My hardware is:
• Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz E6600 but no over-clocking.
• MSI P965 Platinum. Latest audio driver from MSI.
• MSI ATI X2600PRO (RX2600PRO-T2D512E) w/512 MB DDR2 .
• Power DVD with latest version as of last Saturday.
• 2 GB Generic 800 MHz Ram (4 Strips).
• Running 1080p @ 96 Hz to NEC 1351.
• Vista Ultra 32bit all updates. (Have not installed SP1)

Thanks Mike,

It looks like my system is about on par with what you are running with the exception of the extra gig of ram.

Btw. why are you running 1080p @ 96hz, that's pushing the bandwidth a little far, how does the picture look?

Thanks,

Erik

For some reason my projector @ 72Hz my picture has shake. I haven't able to figure how way, so I though I would try 96 HD (95.904) It took some experimenting with Power strip but I managed to get a incredable picture @96Hz. Im I pushing it but happy with the results. Best thing I like about it is slow pan's are very smooth at 96HZ.
