Everyone,

A spell checker is now available when entering posts. It's only available in the "Advanced" mode (not quick reply).

I've also added the 50-100 most popular tech terms that we use into the global custom dictionary. You can add more to your own custom dictionary of course.

Kal

Oh boy Kal, I just saw it. It found that I spelled whipper wrong. Oh boy, oh boy, OH BOY.

I shall confine my excitement to standing in one place and pulsating.

It's phpSpell version 1.06p (free): http://www.master-technology.com/demos/spell/

It's a general purpose spell checker that works with php.

Thread about it over at the main phpbb forum: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=71932

I looked at www.spellingcow.com as well (also free), but I don't like the fact that it 'calls home' every time you use it to do the spell checking. It's not a 100% standalone package like phpSpell. (Their URL also doesn't seem to work for me right now...). Mind you, phpSpell eats up about 10mb of database space per language that you install and isn't quite as polished (IMHO) as some of the pay ones.

Ironic as well, the admin interface for phpSpell has a bunch of spelling mistakes in it. Smile
