Hi all,

I have a laptop connected to my XG75 via vga-rgbhv and I want to make sure I have it set up to get the correct picture for DVD and recorded shows.

I am running at 1280x720 @ 72Hz
I am using Zoomplayer with ffdshow.
I have ffdshow set to use yv12 on the output tab.

I have used Avia to set brightness/contrast and saturation/hue. Picture looks OK but I think the blacks are being crushed a bit and I think skin tones may be a bit red but I have to check with more material to be sure.

I was wondering about things like Overlay vs VMR9, gamma correction and levels. From reading I am getting that I should use VMR9 if possible but am not sure if it should be windowed or renderless. For levels, should I be using ffdshow's level settings to convert from 0-255 to 16-235? For gamma, if I understand correctly, I should be setting gamma correction at ~0.45 (1/2.5), correct?

Any other advise to get proper color/picture appreciated.

David
