It's actually all electric, so if you have it on a cement floor it's nearly silent. Just zings a bit. Plugs into 110. Technically if you reinforced stuff enough it would lift a 1252, but there'd be a performance penalty, and keeping it converged during 2g accelerations and 20hz vibration would be a trick!

If you think calibrating a CRT is tough now, try doing it when the screen can be at any angle from -30 to +30 degrees on two axes and anywhere along an 18" path vertically
Actually, the screen pretty much has to be attached to the platform because otherwise the motion illusion won't work effectively. It depends on the horizon line you see remaining static vs. your field of vision, which convinces your brain that you can't possibly be rotating - and therefore, you must be accelerating instead. I wrote a lot more about it at http://force-dynamics.com/content/simulation.php, I don't think it's really on-topic for the HTPC section unless we start talking about modifying the machines to run d-box motion codes.

Hey, start a new post about simulators. It's on topic enough for us. We don't really care about off topic posts. We're not as concerned as some forums. So, Have at it.
