Kal | well I just placed my pre-order, hopefully late July is actually July of this year. I'm a little worried about the whole "Quanity is limited thing" Will you guys stop taking pre-roders if the first batch is sold out? I know there's probably a sh*t-load of people who ordered before me, I hope I'm not the 151st customer for 150 cards being built?

His own website still says Mid June.
Maybe if you sign his visitors book he might let you know whats going on......lol

Moome told me that he has 50 cards to sell here after all the other pre-orders he filled before starting to sell here (I mention that only 50 on the order page too). Once those are filled, that's it. I'll turn off the ordering buttons. I don't want people ordering after that with no clear idea when exactly the next batch will come out.
If they sell well, Moome tells me there will be another batch, but who knows when that would happen.

Let's just try to see when the first batch happens. If I get mine by the end of July per the last update I will be shocked. Of course he already has my money so there is no real sense of urgency but hey when your the only game in town you make the rules. I knew that going into the deal, we all did/do.
The good thing is we do know that Moome will deliver the goods .

Kal | yikes, I think it has been at LEAST a full year since the last batch. I'm sure glad I ordered mine now. I have waited a long time to finally run HD/BD movies into my Marquee, waiting another year would be horrible.

You don't need an HDMI/DVI input to watch HD/BD.
The only reasons you need one is:
1) You want to use an upscaling DVD player
2) You want to feed a scaler digitally
3) You have a 9" so need 1080p

Niether of those options seemed very appealing, especially the HTPC. For $385. with Gamma I will be very happy with moome's, just need a cheap player with 6 channel analog. Looks like it might not be far away based on rumors of an A2 for $100.

The A2 won't have six channel analog though. But the A1's are selling all day long for $150-$165 on the used market. And that price may drop further if the $99 A2's come out, which I seriously doubt will happen.
The X1's are down to $230-$245 on the used market.

I've sold four A1's but never had any HD-DVD of my own yet. So I can't talk about it's performance! Though the X1 should be identical in delay times or bugginess as the A1 due to it having the same hardware software, but simply with additional options (which I have no idea what they are).
But I did play one HD-DVD (Serenity) on one of the A1's I sold, since I was upgrading the firmware for the buyer anyways. It was incredibly slow to boot up, read and then start playing. Quite annoyingly so. Almost as annoying as getting stuck walking behind someone who is very slow, when you're in a hurry to get somewhere.
But the playback itself was flawless for me. That was an original firmware version player. And I've decided that I'm on the hunt for an A1 for myself now, which is why I've been searching used prices. And yes, I'm sticking with either fleabay or AVS classifieds.
The problem is that apparently some of the players are buggy. So I'm waiting for someone I trust to come along who is selling their troublefree player. I won't buy any of those "open box" items from unknown power sellers. Even though odds are good that the player will be fine.
There is one in the classifieds here selling for $160 + shipping, from a well known forum member.

Btw, shipping is twice as expensive with the A1's or X1's vs. normal DVD players because these are so heavy. So expect to pay at least $30 via FedEx ground.

Just wondering here since Moome is a mod on this forum why he wouldn't provide the same information about whats happening with his product on this forum as he has on his recently updated website and over on AVS?
His own website says he is testing the cards right now and will start shipping the basic version shortly and and AVS he told a customer there that he will ship in about about a week(and that was several days ago)
I pretty sure he hasn't visited this site since last week.(last post was July 10)
Any hints Kal? You've done a bang up job on info, specs and pictures....lets get this thread updated.

Good question Jamie - I'll sent a note to Moome indicating that he should at least post any news here as well in his forum.
I try to stay on top of things too and post any pictures or updates here... so you'll see these pics and news posted here in the next 24 hours.

FYI: Moome's received a new batch of these VIM-HD boards back from the manufacturer and he is assembling/testing them all before sending them out...
July 19, 2007: VIM-HD cards ready for assembly/testing before being sent out to customers:
