Looking for Altec Lansing ACS 500 speakers , all functions (Prologic Surround Sound , input 1, 2 , subwoofer output , the noise button, all volume buttons, all speakers including surround sound speakers , etc ) must be operational, prefer with cables and subwoofer but not a must.

I got mine working again but still want another pair as rear speakers. I am using Altec Lansing ACS 400 with the subwoofer as the rear speakers now. I got these ACSes back in the 90's when they first came out. I looked at the 500 board and amazed at how bad the PCB was. I found one of the tracks that was cut intentionally which would otherwise cause a short circuit , the PCB layout guy probably made a mistake and they had the PCB corrected at production. One of the solder pads actually came off (one of the Toshiba made audio power amplifier ICs) but luckily , that pin on the IC is not supposed to be connected to anything (at least in this circuit) . I have been using the SoundBlaster brand and the same set of speakers in all of my past PCs including a Pentium Pro machine.

I bought 4 of them, off lease in 2000. 1 is still running the old accounting software at my office on Win95. Not used much anymore bur was run for 15 years until we switched software. The one I have is the back up box for that one. An IBM 365. The other two were a Compaq Pro server and an other IBM 365. I lent them out and never got them back. Expensive lesson.
I liked running BEOS on the Pentium Pro and PIII Dual proc 500.

Win95 ? Those were the good days when things were simpler. I have been using Windows (except 10) since 1, I used OS/2 and UNIX too , but OS/2 is long gone. I remember the "trackpoint" on IBM 365 that is still used by Lenovo today. My expensive lesson was frying the Pentium 4 board.
What kind of repair you did on the ACS 500 ?

The ACS 500 had the tweeters broken off inside the case just swinging around. Broken wire and I think there was an issue with the SUB but I can't rmeember for sure. Haven't run those in a a while. I've spent some years collecting PC speakers.
My latest is a pair of Cambridege soundworks just after creative bought them. I got the plastic 2.1 sub, with a volume controls and I previously had a pair of satelites. Now jusut looking for the original 12 volt power supply. It'll pop up at thrift one day.
The IBM 365 I was talking about is a desktop workstation with a dual Pentium Pro board, horizontal case.

I haven't seen this dual Pentium Pro system from IBM. Those were the days when PCs were "horizontal".

Yeah, good old desktops.
I think I paid $400 for the 4 PC's. The Compaq was a ProLiant dual Pentium Pro with a tape drive. Miss that one!
No pictures that I can find. Maybe shot on film back then.

I wish I had taken photos of those older computers I had. The first PC I had was the Apple II but the first one I used was a Sinclair. You must have a museum of computers at home.

The Timex was my first PC. With the Coleco ADAM a close second - just a few months later.
The ADAM was the first computer I BBS'ed on at 300BAUD.
most of my friends had Comodore 64''s and Vic 20's
Then my buddy got a 386 16 with 2 megs of ram and a 1200 baud modem. Ooohh jealousy!
I did the Timex and Coleco thing from 1984-1992 then got into dumb terminals - WYSE with 300 baud modem then 1200 baud modem
BBS'ed my azz off. Then in 1997 I started building PC's and grabbing up surplus 386 and 486 PC's. First real PC I borrowed from the office it was a 486 DX4 100 ( which is actually a DX 3/99 if you look into it. ) Did a lot of share-ware tittles on that one. That was the tail end of the sharware craze. 1995-96.
When that went away I built a Cyrix 6x86 - 166 PC with Windows 95 A. That was where the IBM PC obsession started
EDIT: spelling now that I can see.

Didn't get a chance to use one of those, just saw it once. This video brings back some nostalgia.

I don't always like Windows but 95 is one of those exceptions.
