So, what happens is, I turn on the Oppo BDP-93 with the remote, it shows HELLO on the front display, then it winks out, and instead of it starting, it is frozen at that point. I can open and close the drawer for a while, until that freezes up too. I've had it working, once, after taking the cover off and doing nothing...just looking around inside and not finding anything obvious. But now its back to not starting up after power on.

Does anyone know what Oppo did to returned units that were experiencing this freezing issue ? I've searched and found LOTS of instances of it, but the only solution anyone ever posted was "Send it back to Oppo".

That's not going to happen, so, does anyone know a way to bump this player past the POST so it will fully start ?

Is there a cap in the psu that fails or something ? Does it need the firmware reloaded with some kind of flasher ?

Hate to give up on a nice player...

Send it back to Oppo and they'll fix it for $100 at least that's what they use to do.
