Besides calling JVC, how do you tell what year a PJ is made? I looked on their site for warranty status and such. They don’t provide a way to look it up from what I found. Unless I was in the wrong place.

depends on the model but the prosumer pjs seem too have 2 digit year followed by 2 digit month numbering at the start of the SN.

The one I am working on is not a RS. It’s an X unit. It starts with a 10 on the SN. X900’s we’re not made then. Thank you for trying to help though. I appreciate it.

Ah, OK. If you have a particular pj in mind why not call JVC direct and get the production info for that unit?

Why? Are you looking at buying a used unit and curious about the warranty? From what I understand JVC projector warranties are not transferable.
According to the Limited Warranty document shipped with the product, JVC Professional Products Company (U.S.) warrants the unit from date of purchase only to the original End-User who purchased the unit. The warranty is not transferable if the product is re-sold.
Sample warranty card: http://pro.jvc.com/pro/attributes/PRESENT/images/sample_warranty_card.gif
Now this was from discussions I found from ~8 years ago however, so things may have changed.
EDIT: Found a 2019 post about JVC projector warranty transfers that states the same (warranty is not transferable to a subsequent customer if the Product is sold by the original purchaser during the Warranty Period): https://www.stereonet.com/forums/topic/264892-sold-sale-pending-jvc-dla-x7900be-as-new-only-86hrs-use-price-drop/?do=findComment&comment=4292825
It's Australia, so who knows if the same would be true everywhere. Probably.
When a product was made also doesn't factor into warranty either usually. It's the date of sale that matters and what most companies look at.
This may be completely useless info... but figured I'd point it out.

Thx for the question and answer Kal. But it's not what you think. ha ha The x900 model I repaired has nothing to do with the warranty as his warranty which lasted 5 years is no longer applicable since the company that bought it for their conference room is now out of business and JVC would not transfer the ownership. I was curious because this unit was made up until 2018 and the HDCP changed from 1.4 to 2.0 in the first 1 1/2 years it was produced. I was only trying to find out which version it had.
