Link Posted: Sat Apr 24, 2021 6:44 pm Post subject: NO HV on 919 after instaliing new crt tubes |
|
|
i bought a 919 seos with the 90 degree tilt tubes,
i also bought a set of simulation grade crt with the proper 180 degree mount.
The tubes are slightly used and came from this site's forum member.
I have an issue on this PJ, it has no HV.
It is acting like the quads are dead, but no red leds on the eht.
All boards came from two working 9s, a good 909 and good cinemax.
aLready swapped multiple EHTs, quads ,splitters, SMps, h board , G2 board.
All g2 leds indicate normal voltages, the hboard hold down red led will light up after two minutes, since there is no HV .
I always have a dc volt meter on the splitter's mini board.it measures .6 dc volts only.
The red leds on the EHT board is not lit, the crt filaments are lit and the smps measures 17.5 v.dc
I also swapped the whole front tray,
Had put back all the boards to another 909 ,and confirmed they all are ok.
Hope somebody can help me nail this problem down.

Could be a shorted tube. Disconnect one tube at a time from the splitter together with its neck board wires and start the projector with only two tubes. If the HV is getting back, the disconnected tube is bad.

Likely not a shorted tube, that would turn on an EHT light. Check the 2 amp fuse on the EHT boards.

HI Curt,
The small 2a fuse on the eht checked out good.
Yes i did start up the PJ with the crt's g2 cables disconnected from the splitter,
but with the neck card still connected and most of
the deflection circuit connected
Still no HV output with this test.

BY the way , with your extender cards.
I can check on voltages, i just dont know where to start.

Have you placed the cover back on both units where the multi cable connections are, if not no HV.
There is a small micro switch in both boxes.

Euh, are we talking about the split-pack version of seos 919 here ?
By the way Dummyload, nice to see you back 👍

HI DL,
Great to hear back again from you guys.
This 919 is the standard mono chassis FP , the micro switch and multicables ,might be for split packs.
Cause I could not find a micro switch,
but Good news,
This PJ is now running .
During the rewiring of the deflection cables , i saw a hole on the red h width coil.
It was missing the ferrite screw, it must have dropped off and lost totally since the conv tray has been on and off a hundred times.
But i believe it could have been out from the very beginning, it might be the one causing the h board def hold down.
I mean, If a metal screw driver can heat up this coil, what can a missing ferrite do to that coil ?
I replaced the ferrite screw and start up the PJ again, swapped eht and three smps.
First one started but with missing two green led ( + con and d120 off) but no h board holddown and no scan fail.
Second smps , no start at all, third one scan fail red led and hthd green led is off.
Then looked at 919 service manual ( Thanks to Franciscus ) that says no eht (HV), no d120 and no +con led means bad f130 fuse.
So checked on that one smps with those led off , yes f130 fuse was busted.
So i borrowed another smps ,and now the pJ is running smoothly without noise or buzz.
I would give it a four hour movie later and see how the circuit is doing.
Not so bad news is two of my smps needs board repair.
