I received my DVD today, I tried it in a cheap $20 Apex DVD player and it works great.

Thanks Graham

Just finished the DVD. Really cool show!!! Amazing how much information is on this DVD!! I need to watch again and again. The astig section is really good stuff.

Again, hats off to Graham and Matthew.

I'll have to dig out one of my cheapo players- my Denon won't play it at all. No surprise, though; it's never really cared for DVD-Rs. My cheap Pioneer plays them perfectly, though.

OK, this is a first. I just received the DVD today, and it will not play in my htpc nor my xbox. htpc is about 4-5 years old now.

Is there any software that i can download to make this work?

Btw, i am running theatertek and WMP10, no luck. Doesn't play the CD either.

When i insert either disk, it clicks as if it's trying to spin, 10-15 times, then stops.

**update** Tried the DVD in someone else's player, works fine. Guess i'll be looking for a firmware update for sure, or buying a new DVD-Rom drive Sad

How well would this DVD relate to a G70? I saw questions about NEC and Marquees but nothing about another Sony. Sorry if this question has been answered before, I just can't seem to find it.

One of the testimonials states:

""The biggest insight for me was to see how a Pro Calibration methodically goes thru items in sequence and for what reasons....Grahams DVD showed me what I'd been doing right as well as what area's I could extract better performance from my G70. I would suggest anyone with a G70, or D50 G90 12xx should ALSO be buying this DVD, a lot of similarities, and information that is directly interchangeable between these sets. The secrets of Astig are also demystified. Two thumbs up! " - NewbieDan

I got mine about a week ago, I have a barco 808s and a ampro 4300 and if like me you are quite new to crt and have never really gone under the hood, get this dvd.

The setup is for a Sony, but the principles are very much the same I could say, astig is really difficult for me, even after people explain it, once you see it done it helps a lot though. On my Ampro I really needed a hand with astig!.

The step by step procedure is thorough, you don't feel like you have missed out on anything, this dvd is worth every penny, pence or cents.

It might be a idea for others to use this as a template and setup dvds like this for all the makes, AMPRO anyone!. Although I am hard pressed to find what would be missing, I am sure there are others who may.

Most people in my position will find this dvd invaluable. I hearty thanks from a happy customer.

Smile

Thanks for the kind words Incova. Smile

There have been a few people who have had problems playing the DVD which is unfortunate.

It is entirely possible there may be some dud DVD-r's sent out. But more likely it is due to a PAL playing problem or the fact they are DVD-r's

I am going to rip an NTSC copy this week. If you received a copy that you cannot play after reasonable efforts. Please let me know by Email.

Thanks

Graham

I have been in hospital for the last week and only got out today.

I am not allowed to drive till Friday but promise I will catch up quickly.

Apologies for the delay.

Just got mine and i've been playing it on my pc... slight problems w/playback nothing major.

I'm impressed w/ the detail and it has helped me understand the process better already, and im only 1/4 way thru.

1 thing though, who is the guy w/ the camera? His voice reminds me of a guy in Monty Python. I keep expecting him to say "the one in the braces, he done it". Very Happy

Thanks!!!

Great Kypha,

BTW everyone. I am up to date as of today with posting the disks out.

I am having a heap of trouble making a NTSC copy of this disk. I have struck some problems I dont think I can solve.

The main thing is I loose all the menus etc.

I will keep working on it for the one or two people who dont seem to be able to play it.

Just got my DVD and am about 1/2 way through it...

Now I don't mean to boast but.... I've set up my fair share of CRT projectors (different models, different types), and have written a lot of the content for Curt's site here so I didn't think I'd learn much from the DVD, but I wanted to see what it was all about since everyone's saying good things about it.

The first thing that struck me was: GRAHAM REALLY KNOWS HIS STUFF! Wow! Good work!

What I didn't expect was that it's not just a DVD that explains "what do I do" but also goes into the "why is it done" and "what's the story behind this" and the "what's the historical reason for that". Again, good job Graham!

The other thing I didn't expect was to learn much since it's topics that find already have a good handle on, but you know what? Watching someone else with a ton of CRT experience set up a projector from start to finish is really refreshing and eye-opening. They don't always do things the exact same way as someone else so it's really interesting/refreshing. Watching it felt like I was sitting around having a beer with Graham talking shop. I'm sure Curt and the other techs would get a real kick out of this! (Have you watched your DVD yet Curt?)

The last thing I didn't expect was for it to be entertaining! Graham's a funny guy! Now this is by no stretch of the imagination a comedy or anything, but I found myself chuckling along half the time as Graham and his friend talked/cursed.

Again, good work Graham!

Kal

P.S. When's the director's cut or special anniversary edition coming out with the bloopers?

Hi There,

Kal - Whats this like for a BG808s - Very similar to your 1200 IIRC.

Also has the idea of a digital download you burn yourself been given thought to - Saves shipping etc

Ta,
Lee
