Hi folks! Long time lurker, first time poster.
I've visited this board MANY times over the past couple years, always ogling the late Kim Beumer's awesome looking transcoders and what-have-you. A terrible shame that he passed before his time, those transcoders all look SO very well-built, the image shift and gamma adjusment options are a real nice touch. There's still quite a lot of RGB<->YPbPr transcoders being made nowadays thanks to the uprise in 'playing retro games on CRTs in RGB', but nothing looks like it quite compares to the stuff he had made. I have a Kramer FC-14 and it's wonderful, and I have a X-Vue Gamma Boost which is also wonderful. But I'd be elated if I could ever get my hands on some old Crescendo gear! The BUF2000 is what I am most interested in (it seems similar to the X-Vue Gamma Boost, only many more cool features and support for component[?])
Glad to join and being chatting more with all you folks! I'm a direct-view CRT fella, myself, but I intend to get a CRT projector someday - right now I have but a simple Optoma DLP. My CRT monitor is quite nice though - one of those beastly 4:3 Sampos that can display legit 720p & has monstrous speakers/subwoofer. My friend helped me modify the 15kHz input daughterboard for 15kHz RGBS, as well! We based the project upon this person's prior mod on the same monitor:

The only difference is that we opted for 4 BNC connectors for RGBS rather than a DE15 connector

^ there's a shot of it displaying some wonderful 1024x768 RGBHV

^ there is the bumpin' speakers I mentioned

^ and here's two links showing off the wonderful 15kHz '240p' RGBS! The first of these last two links is a gallery
Cheers!
~ Mike

Not sure about your intent. But if you look at the BUF2000 manual you can see it does not do true gamma correction, it basically modifies the black level point. A techically correct single adjustment RGB gamma correction (in analogue domain) requires 6 (high quality) analog multipliers which is expensive and takes space.
Also here the YPrPb transcoder is most probably done with a single target chip (to fit the small case), most likely a TI part, which is BTW good, but definitely not something that can't be reproduced.
