Hi everyone

There is a really old Kloss lookalike Sharp xv-750p -projector nearby and I'm planning to buy some other stuff from the guy. Should I save this thing and is it worth the 50€ he's asking? This thing probably needs the curved screen?

My opinion: if you have to ask, you don't want it. That's a hobby project for somebody who's obsessed with old projectors.

I also don't believe it's worth anything, at least not in North America. In North America you can't even give away considerably better 7" and 8" projectors. Certainly interesting to work on if you want a hobby, but I wouldn't pay anything for something like that or expect much in terms of picture quality (it will be 480i only and probably fuzzy as hell).

Not worth even 50 Euro. Get a more 'modern' 7" or 8" unit, for pennies on the $

Thanks for the answers and no I don't need it as a "daily driver" I went digital long ago. I just thought that maybe that thing is somekind of rarity that need to be saved from recycling. If I get it for free I might drag it home...or not

Of course I also have spare curved screens laying around too.
35 Euro's tops. Surplus is the best

I might actually have a curved screen from my first ever "projector" which was a MDF-box where you put a small crt tv inside and it enlarged the picture on to the screen. I think it was called Projex X1 or F1 or something like that I might still have it disassembled somewhere. What a useless contraption that thing was My first 480i Barco was like from a another planet compared to that.

Well there it is I also got the original screen with it. Thing weight's like a ton two men could barely lift it. The building where it was located might be demolished in the near future so at least it's save from that now. But I'm not bringing that behemoth inside the house that's for sure.
