|
|
Hi folks,
my G90 sometimes goes into standby with error code 59. I cannot restart it from there, I have to power cycle then start again. From then on it works normally, even for hours. I think when it happens the projector is still warming up, like after 10-15 minutes.
I cannot find this error code in the manuals. Any idea what that means? Could it read "S9"?
The unit and the tubes show around 1000 hours, the Dallas chip is 3 years old.
cheers
Martin

Oh well... it just came to me, it might as well be "65", the beamer being on the ceiling...
Thats in the manual. It reads "The cover of the polarity switchers does not shut completely".
What the heck is that? I've already run that beast with all covers open, it never complained!
cheers

OK... if it was that, then at least I now know what it is.
The screw to the cover was and now is even more well tightend.

So the G90 is working OK now. Do you see a sensor associated with that cover?

I did not open the cover, just re-tightened an aready well thightened screw. I did not open it up beceause the metal sliding door does not slide well all to the end, so I would have had to take off the big cover. If the error comes up again I will remove all covers and have a good look.
I vaguely remember having seen a microswitch under the cover, and the manual also says so. It is there to protect the tubes so you cannot switch the polarities when the tubes are on.
This might explain why the error occurs during warmup and never during further operation. When the projector is warming up its parts are moving a little bit.
cheers.

Are you talking about the outer grey cover or the bare metal cover underneath. I haven't run my G90 with the main cover in 14 years.

The "outer gray one"...
It has a small sliding door with the controls behind. When I picked up the beamer at the dealer this door was blocked somehow, and it still does not slide all the way open. So the "polarity cover" is still covered, but I could reach the screw by tilting the screwdriver.
When you remove the "outer gray", you still have the corresponding part from the bottom, don't you?
cheers

You're probably talking about the thin black plastic spring loaded flap that sits just in front of the embedded control box.

Yes, the thin black *metal* damned spring loadedifitpleases flap that sits where you told it sits...
I never move it, since I have the remote. Even two, in case I cant find the first one.
Why don't you put the cover on? Do you have a hushbox?
cheers

Didn't want to risk upsetting the convergence by repeated installation and removal. Makes the pj look a little less imposing too. Plus its in a dedicated space so looks are unimportant.

Oh yes, convergence... something I could do in these coronadays.
Each time I switch on the projector I'm thinking of a hushbox.
But its strange, I complete overhear the noise after some minutes.
cheers

Hi,
the error 65 came up again, so I took of the gray cover and had a look. Under the polarity-switcher-flap is indeed a microswitch, holding it down and releasing it during running gave the error 65... OK so far.
The flap is bent outwards some millimeters to the side where the microswitch is. See the pic. Thats certainly why the microswitch failed to remain closed. I wonder why its bent so much, since there is nothing below that may put pressure on the flap. Except for the spring to the very right that holds the flap open when manipulating the polarity switches.
I'm trying to bend it back, but I doubt that will hold for a long time.
cheers
Martin

Warm plastic gets soft and tends to bend. Perhaps has had a small tension on it for years as well (the spring of the switch).
Or the part where the screw is attached has always been pushed lower than the corner with the hinge -> tension.
I'd take a thin piece of plastic (some packaging waste?) or wood (wooden stirrer, slice of firewood?) and glue it to the plastic rectangular 'block' so that it pushes down the switch again after the lid is closed.

Hello Boet,
thats what I will do when the back-bending will not remain. For now its rather straight.
You mention heat: that makes me think that I noticed a faint but unusual hot-plastic-like smell, when I had a closer look at the trap (my nose bein very close to it), although the projector was in standby and merely ran for some seconds before.
I immediatly took my IR-cam and checked the underside as well as inside (projector still in standby) but could not find anything.
cheers
