Got a feeling this could be the next must own for a CRT user. Its also supposed to be a pretty good movie plot-wise. Space movies just look sooooo good on a well calibrated 9 incher.

thanks for the heads-up, a sci-fi flick sounds great and this one looks good

Wonder why the Tomato audience score is so low, only 40%. Too Cerebral for the average Joe?

I've only seen one other movie by that Director, The Lost City of Z , it was good , based on a true story

After hearing professional reviews and watching some clips I decided to wait to rent the BR. Some reviewers have issues with the dialog and its cadence. All a bit of a drag..... visuals are gorgeous.

I remember Gary complaining about that in The Brade Runna Sequel, but i really think the problem was with the commercial theater. I saw it at home twice and absolutely loved it.
SO I think it's safe to say that things like dialogue and cadence can be very dependent on where you see a movie, your mood, whether or not your tired, etc. I remember not enjoying Gladiator first time around because the theater was so uncomfortable.

I’ve had an advanced copy in HDR for about a week. I was really tired when I watched it so I’m going to try again. It seemed like it started out really good but I wasn’t thrilled by the ending... but at that point I was almost totally passed out 😵 it does look beautiful in a high contrast ratio projector. I watched it on my NX9.

1080p on the G90 is better.

However, the NX9 is the best consumer grade projector on the planet right now in terms of image quality as long as your screen is not too big. My screen is only 96"x54" with ST130 material. On this, my NX9 belches out 175 nits while maintaining a decent native measured contrast ratio of 40,000:1... and it can do 100% of DCI-P3 color space. To me the larger color pallet of DCI-P3 compared to Rec709, and the 10-bit encodes of UHD-BD, make the image quality exceptional. I watch everything I can in UHD now.

Both are exceptional projectors, but to stay current I need to have something to watch and test with in my own theater.

Best,
craigr

That's the funny thing isn't it. I bought the NX9 knowing that I will sell it as soon as JVC comes out with a better model that has a laser light engine. I would have gotten the 4500, but the 3000 has a much better picture Shocked
