Hi,
I've acquired some Barco 909 yokes wired for Marquee. These apparently originate from Mike Parker. I can get the sharpness very good without blooming when in exact position on tube neck. However, the adjustment range is very tiny, I barely can see any difference when ramping from 0 to 100. This makes astigmatism impossible.

Could this be a compatibility issue with software version or maybe even my FGM? It works well with stock yokes though.

PJ is Marquee 9500 Ultra

Thanks!

Hello

I am not schooled on magnetics but if the Barco windings have different resistance or inductance characteristics than the Marquee yokes then they likely will not focus the same. Sounds like the range is compressed. Also I believe the Marquee yokes may have temperature correction feeding back to the focus board.

Having played with "Frankenyokes" extensively I found the stock Marquee Yokes to work best. The lack of adjustment didn't sit well with me so went back to Stock. Properly modified boards and proper set up will result in a VERY sharp picture so no need to swap in Sony or Barco yokes.

That might very well be true. However, with quick tests there is definitely less smearing and almost no blooming which was an issue with my stock focus yokes at high contrast. I'll do some more tests, try the stig out and see if its any better.

I've recapped pretty much every board and there are few MP boards as well, just trying to get the very best outta the pj.

High in Phoenix today is 42C/108F and 24C/75F in Helsinki. I think most people would choose Finland. Wink

Yepp, our temps bounce like -25c in winters and +24 in summer. A total hell for CRT and can expect almost a full re-setup every season change.
