interesting, this generation finally realizing rap sucks, everything made in the last 20 years almost universally sucks, and you're better off with 70's/80's rock-n-roll
Go to used record store and try to find a classic rock LP, i dare you

Sez who? My 22-yr-old son (who lives with me currently) used to listen to a lot of classic rock, but for the last several years I'd guess 80% of what he listens to is various rap. Ugh. (Same with his friends.) I tolerate it but after a while I'll say "Enough!! Pick another genre!!"
I *HATE* most rap, for a variety of reasons. Not the least of which is, I don't "get" lyrics. Never have. There are hundreds of songs that I can sing the lyrics, but I couldn't write them down. The words are just part of the "music" to me and I don't really process them as language. I prefer instrumental music, so the damn words don't get in the way. But with rap, words are the main focus. The damn words are ALWAYS in the way.
My son played a song for me once and asked what I thought of it. "Eh, it's rap." No opinion of the lyrics? "No, haven't really listened to them." He said he wasn't surprised, since the lyrics were Ukranian!! I so totally block out lyrics (especially rap) that I didn't even notice they were in another language!
Hate opera too...

that's too bad , so much of the lyrics in classic rock are poetry in every sense of the word
What bothers me about rap is the complete lack of music. It's computer generated drum beats and overlays from someone elses music.
Sure has some legs on it though, beat Disco out by a mile

Yeah it seems the Ukrain can't make an unatractive girl. Her voice doesn't work on every song, some she misspronounces the words but at least they are givin' it all they got and with the case of this Journey song, killin' it.

I'd never heard either before. Sting's is OK but I prefer the Stevie Ray Vaughan version.

Hendrix's 60's cruncy guitar style that Stevie mimicks vs 80's easy listening style of Sting.

Yeah but I'm specifically looking at cover songs. I agree Victoria K's version is closer to the original.
