You'll need to get into your time machine first...:

Funny, I don't remember having a "Smells" sub-forum! Curt and I must have thought it would be funny.

I have one in storage... Between the slot being ridiculously long and the board standoffs not giving coverage in all the right places, it's surprisingly difficult to seat the full VLB cards in it Razz

Not from 13 years ago. No point in keeping snapshots that old.

Giving out database copies is not something I can really do (even to moderators I trust like yourself Wink) as it contains lots of private information (usernames, encrypted passwords, PMs, etc) and would be a violation of our terms of service.

Too bad there wasn't a way to put the whole of the old forum online as read only. I wasn't interested in the private data, just the historical aspect of having everything from Day 1 forward available.

Kinda like finding the floppy disks my buddie ran his BBS off of in 1991.

Another forum I enjoy had a situation recently that sounded like something that had happened here... I briefly thought of trying to connect the Admin there with Kal... for advice on how to create a non indexed off topic... and then realized there were way more reasons not to!!
There is an impressive amount of unique and cumulative development on most forums. The Gladwell 10000 Hour rule might not apply, but- the experience and solutions Kal used to create the backend of this site are actually valuable IP. Creating a methodology to be able to strip and index historic data in an indexable/searchable reference seems like a tool with a lot of potential.. but only if it is implemented in the initial structure.
There is surprisingly little information on the typical lifespan of internet user groups, and although there are Yahoo group type models that create useage structures where you can get an overview of posts and there are probably well developed tools that the DHS uses to track Dragan, it is actually really hard to research historic content of inactive groups in the age of Google type search engines.

The good old 1 meg Trident cards!

Also, as to the RAM for my IBM 365 what I found on Wiki
"4 DIMM-168 totalling 512mb"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_PC_Series#PC_365

So do you have 4 sticks of 128mb ram 168 pin for the 66Mhz FSB that would fit this IBM?

This ram came from a HP pentium pro server. Its really a case of the mobo and if it will take this type of ram.

So it was a server rather than a work station? I think tht was the issue I was having back then. ECC vs Non ECC

Yes server ram and yes won't work on any board for standard ram only.
