Hi,

I have the monitor stated above amd I am trying to dial in the picture. But I've noticed that it needs a gamma boost on the low end. When taking 10% grey scale measurements, I am seeing a linear gamma curve from 2.45(10%) to 1.7(100%) with an average gamma of 2.2. While I understand the average of 2.2 is what we are after, it seems to make the image too contrasty with this response (100 nits peak). Surprisingly, the monitor does not have a gamma option in the menu. I am taking measurements with an i1Display Pro using HCFR.

Is there an analog gamma booster available that would be ideal to boost the low end while not introducing input lag? It would need to take analog YPbPr, RGBHV, S-Video, and Composite inputs.

Thank you for your time.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

We used to have a bunch of analog boxes that would do this but they're all discontinued. You may be able to find one of them on eBay or similar. Here's one: https://www.ebay.com/?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5336656890&toolid=20008&mkevt=1

Others to look for:

Some do more than just gamma boost.

If you want to have extreme control (21 points of gamma adjustment from 0 to 100% stimulus, consider a Radiance: http://www.curtpalme.com/Radiance.shtm

It's HDMI only however. Older discontinued Radiance models do allow for analog inputs/outputs.

Good luck!

Kal

Thank you Kal,

The RTC2200 or the Box1040 are almost exactly what I need.

However, I wish it had composite and S-Video as well. I feel the Radiance products may do too much for my needs and introduce more video lag than I want to have.

Thank you!

Zero lag with the Radiance but it’s definitely more than you need if all you’re looking for is gamma adjustment. Cheers!

Kal
