Seems to cover CRT tubes too: http://www.crtclassactioncanada.ca

Curt's going to make millions! Wink Did you keep your receipts Curt? (That said, I doubt he bought many CRT tubes new, from Canada).

Dammit, all I ever bought were Sony CRT's.

Only winners here will be the lawyers.

Brand does't matter. If you bought something with a CRT in it in Canada between March 1, 1995 and November 25, 2007 you're entitled.

Includes:

- CRT televisions
- CRT computer monitors
- CRTs for inclusion in televisions or computer monitors

Kal

P.S. So maybe CRT projector tubes aren't included? Not sure.

Sony aren't included in the list of defendants. Or is that irrelevant in this class action lawsuit? Seems unfair if there is no evidence of price fixing by Sony.

From the front page:

Quote:
Who can receive a payment from the settlements?
Persons resident in Canada (individuals, businesses and governmental entities) can receive a payment from the settlements if they
purchased any of the following products, regardless of the manufacturer or brand, in Canada between March 1, 1995 and November 25, 2007:

■CRT televisions
■CRT computer monitors
■CRTs for inclusion in televisions or computer monitors

From the FAQ:

Quote:
6. Am I eligible to receive a payment from the settlements?

You are a “Settlement Class Member” and eligible to receive a payment if you live in Canada and you purchased CRTs, CRT televisions and/or CRT computer monitors (regardless of the manufacturer or brand) in Canada between March 1995 and November 2007.

All I can say with these lawsuits is don't hold your breath. I'd be shocked if the final payout is anything close to $20. Like I said its only the lawyers who see any real rewards in these situations.

I've been involved in several and the only time I felt it was worthwhile was the Cam follower/fuel pump/cam rod replacement on a B7 Audi A4 2.0T which failed at 63K. The other time was fixing the black-screen-of-death on a Apple Macbook Pro.

Actually, I don't think I bought any CRT monitors or TVs in that timeframe, they were always given to me. Smile

I doubt many here would qualify for much of a settlement. As I read it, the class action suit is about price fixing -- by **manufacturers** &etc. I.e. fixing the price of NEW CRTs. Doesn't matter if you bought 100 monitors and projectors from Craigslist. None of those would qualify.

When Y2K was comming there weren't any craiglist monitor to be had. Was there even a Craigslist back then? All of mine were new in the box. 19" Princeton Grapics $950 each 1600x1200@85Hz

Yeah, those would qualify. But what percentage of your CRTs over the years were new? Certainly none of us personally bought new CRT projectors, at $35k a pop!

Nope I did not buy my Ampro 4000 new in 1993 for $42 000. But all my 1998-2003 CRT Monitors were new.
