Hey good afternoon everyone. I have a 1208 that has served me well for many years, recently it has started having cold start failures. When I power on with a video signal present the tubes will not light up for 3 or 4 minutes, when they do light up they pulse and the video scrambles for another minute then it settles down and works perfectly. I am thinking cracked solder joints somewhere or maybe some caps going bad. I have pulled every board except convergence and see nothing obvious, any suggestions? Thanks for any help, I would love to take care of this before it fails completely.

Does the test pattern come up? You're describing any amount of possible causes, but I think there's only one root cause.

When it's cold nothing will display, when it warms up all is fine.

No test pattern, tubes are dark until machine warms up, with or without a video signal.

OK, take a peek at the red LED on the EHT board. Chances are it is off. Also, can you post a video (or link to it) that shows the picture shaking when it does return?
Also, check the 17.5 volt test point on the SMPS and adjust it if it is off. The location is shown on the main site, either in the 1208 or 808 section.

The EHT led is not on and does not come on at any point, power supply voltage is 17.75. https://youtu.be/ETdmzEdVX_A

Weird, especially since the convergence 'snaps' into place.
Try pulling the convergence tray, and run the set without it. See if it fires up then.
Not sure if you have a sync or HV issue..

This video is blu-ray thru HD fury 3 that I have been using for years problem free. I also connected a standard dvd player composite out to port 1 on the projector and have the same problem. I'm not sure how to unlock the convergence tray, I loosened the 2 screws on the face but the board does not budge.

Pulled the convergence tray, powered up and no video. The PJ shut down after about 10 seconds tried this several times with the same outcome, reinstalled convergence tray and PJ powers up still no EHT LED. I will have to wait until it cools down to know if reseating the convergence made a difference.

OK, I don't think the EHT light will come on, when it does, the set is in HV shutdown mode, and won't come out of it. You're not having that issue.
HEre's the scoop: I am selling 1208/1209s boards at $15 each, minimum order 4 boards. They are untested, but I didn't keep dead boards in stock. I either repaired them or threw them out.
I'd get:
-SMPS
-H board
-V board
-RGB boards (2 of them)
I need you to email me a pix of the chassis layout so I can see if I have all the boards. Sounds like your problem is on one of those 5 boards, and at the price, you may as well buy a few spares.

Not sure yet, I will try and check this week. Can you email me through the main site? I think you PMed me here, but didn't reference a projector or problem. Without EXACT details, when I answer 50 emails a day across three different subjects, I can't work with some module numbers emailed to me, sorry.
Thanks!
