DO it, they are a true clasic. Especialy if you get the screen. Make sure not to touch the screen's surface.

I'd love to have one as a conversation piece and a 13 gain curved screen would be very cool!

well I went and had a look at it,
and got it
Friday night my 52" Zenith RPTV started sparkin' at the base of the green tube within a little white plastic box on the board right where the tube plugs in
when i turn on the set i get one or two quick pops and then no power-up
Shut it back off, then on again, snap-krackle-pop, no power-up
Crying or Very sad

so Saturday, when i saw the cute little Sony 5020 and its "wittle-bity scween" i figured what the hell
it can fill in for now while i decide what to do with the Zenith RPTV Confused

can't say much for the nonexistant inputs
(has 75ohm ant in "F" coaxial conn only)

and outputs, yeah there's TWO for audio, both mono Rolling Eyes

but using a VCR for tuner and stereo audio covers that

not a bad picture either for a 28 yr old tv

and what the hell

its CRT!

Laughing

hey AnalogRocks,

"Especialy if you get the screen. Make sure not to touch the screen's surface." Shocked I can hardly resist!

yeah, I got the screen but not as advertised Sad
the 5020 comes with a mere 50" screen (he thought it was 60")
the 7220 comes with a 70" screen
i was under the impression that the same pj was used for the 50" & 70" and just set-up differently
apparently not the case
i have the small screen set at the approx. 6' specified and did try on a 72" wall mounted screen at 8' but no way to vertically converge to the larger screen size
supposedly the lenses do have some focus, from what i found in the manuals, but i haven't opened it up yet to see them
don't think they adjust laterally at all hence the specific "screens"

What I want to know from you knowledgable peolpe here is

Can the screen be "cleaned" or "re-covered"?

Looks like this one seen quite a bit of nicotine in its day........

any thoughts?

.............

I don't know about the screen, but my kp-5000 had composite video inputs. They were BNC connectors, so you would have to go to radioshack and buy the adapter. I always ran the sound through a receiver instead of the internal speaker(s?).
