Gasp, yes, it's true! I have a customer that is inquiring about doing a blend with two digital projectors. Not sure if the sale will fly, but what's the best, most economic solution for digital projectors.. or do digitals have that function built right into select model projectors?
Thanks!

I think all blend solutions currently available are intended for digital projectors or at least anything with an HDMI input.
If you find anything at a reasonable price point I'm looking, too.

A lot of digitals that are capable of doing a blend (correct features like lens shift and color matching), usually have edge blending built right in. The Panasonic PT-DW5100U and PT-DW7000U for example have edge blending, as well as color correction built right into the projector. So yeah, its a feature that's included with some higher lumen & high end models.

Even Vivitek (value to performance sales-front to DElta Electronics) digitals have build-in soft edge blending these days. If you are starting from scratch getting a pair of projectors, either lamp or laser-phosphor based (later prefered due to more graceful aging, therefore retaining blend result), like these is the way to go, budget wise, especially considering avoiding the hassle between multiple vendors passing the ball round.
Vivitek has moved up market quickly following DPI with its 18K lumens single chipper: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAq4Z4YMfE8 great blend of two 18K and 4 smaller, unspecified units. Seventh Sense is the 4K server of choice for the past year.
8:30 5500 lumens laser-phosphor, but no specific mention of blending in projector: https://www.vivitekusa.com/productdetail/DU4671Z/
Software edge-blending is still around including camera-based the AvStumpfl guys officially spun-out that part of the business, selling hardware processors/servers and their traditional screens business. Canon has been partnering with them for its software blending offer/packaged products, for years.

There are others.
If you want pc based Matrox has had its C900 9 output card for a while, one us webshop said no longer available, but the local distributor has not sent out an email ad notifying me of a replacement model, and others are still selling it,found an US website selling it for 1700 usd (here in EU it is 2K euro). Not sure if there are soft-edge drivers as the target market is digital signage, so discrete lcd panel based walls. Something to check for. http://www.matrox.com/graphics/media/pdf/products/graphics_cards/c-series/en_Matrox-C-Series-Datasheet.pdf
Cheaper? http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/graphics_cards/m_series/powerdesk/edge_overlap/ still requires the projectors to do the edgeblending the card offers control of the overlap in play-out pc.
Optoma has been doing blend boxes for a number of years.

Of course all the big presentation and 'large venue' vendors have edge blendingv built-in so Panasonic, Sony, Nec, Barco, Christie, BenQ, Ricoh, and so on.

Jeremy, I remember those from my first ISE, back in 2005, they are antiques by now. Build for 24/7 though, as they offered watercooling of the DMDs.
