i have a samsung ws-32z10hv tv that does not display 720p and 1080i properly. i am getting either a very very dark split image or the tv struggles to display. in 480p and lower it works perfectly. what can be the problem? i need it fixed.

That's not a CRT projector, I suggest you ask your question in the appropriate subforum.

It doesn't look like it will do 720p, and may not do 1080i. the one manual I found online says 1080i/50hz, it says nothing about 60hz.

According to the users manual

the TV accepts:
Available format for Component Inputs
; 480i/480p/576p/1080i-60Hz or 50Hz (Australia & Newzealand).
So no 720P.
720P ia 45KHz vs 1080i and 480p's 33/31 Khz so I wonder if you did some damage running 720p into it?
Also are you sure you are sending 1080i and not 1080p? I know on 480i sets if you sent 480p you would get a side by side picture.

I too have a Sami 32" tube, 1080i yes , 720P= no.
