The cables I am using between the AVR and speakers are made by BJ Cables. Mr. Green

On one end are banana plugs and the other are spades. The posts on the AVR are prohibitively tight to use the spade end of the cables, but the spade openings are too small for the Paradigm posts. I've literally had to open said posts on the speakers and feed half of one side of the spade into the hole that is usually used for bare wire.

The problem with this approach is that the posts loosen in a relatively short period of time creating a crappy connection. Now before you ask me why did I not get both ends done in banana it was because I had never bought cables from BJ before and wanted to evaluate the connectors there were using.

Don't get me wrong, I like the cables ... a lot. I just do not know if BJ is using abnormally tight spade fittings or if Paradigm is using larger than expected posts.

Thoughts?

I'm a big fan of bare wire, and IMO I think the very large stranded pure copper wire is best and sounds best. Or, at least it has much less surface area than the really fine stuff and therefore will oxidize more slowly.

Most connectors are Brass and your just introducing another impedance mismatch into the chain IMO. They do sell the really fancy pure copper spades or even Rhodium but once again it's another mechanical connection you don't need.
