This problem is usually harder to see when using the internal test patterns, but very noticeable when using external source.

I had a similar problem here:

http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38792

The more common problem is when you notice zaggy lines in the image on either vertical lines or the edge of anything in the image. This is usually overlooked or ignored as not affecting the image, but it does cause some image problem depending on the degree of it.

It is also noticed when running at 1920X1080P /72, but can also be a problem at 1920X1080P /60hz. I have been running my setup at 60hz for the longest, because I prefer a straight source to projector video chain. The problem can sometimes be corrected when using a scaler or HT PC, where timings can be adjusted. But timing adjustments may not work in every case.

What I've found in running this problem down, was the DPB mounted on the CLM (Control Module). In the link above where I posted about the problem I was having, it was a defective DPB. But with the common timings and zaggy lines problem, it to is a defect on the DPB. But this one is a correctable. First you'll need to look at U7 on your DPB and see what version it is. The version number should start with a 5.X. On my testing of the DPB's that I have here, the problem exist on Version 5.3 not sure if this particular chip itself is defective and with it being the only version I have below 5.5, I'm thinking the problem is related to 5.3 and below versions. 5.5 and 5.6 works flawless when tested. And that makes me think it's a version problem, because 1920X1080P was not on the scope when these projectors were being made or when they designed the sweep circuits (needing an vertical mod is also proof to this).

Also what I found with version 5.3 was a lot of strolling lines in the image. At first I did not know where they were coming from and was prepared to bring a scope downstairs to tackle this problem on the ceiling projector, but when going after the zaggy lines, I noticed I had also cleared up the very troublesome strolling noise lines as well when I changed to version 5.5 and or 5.6

I have the zaggies a little with 5.5 2005 CLM. I tried to swap my 2010 5.6 CLM but it hang and became unresponsive.

Could it be that 5.6 needs a newer version of the horizontal module because on my 2010 Marquee it works.
