hi everyone

Need a little help.

I'm trying to figure out (l've done lots of research) on how I should connect the following items up to my Epson projector.

I have a Rotel 1057 receiver (two hdmi inputs)
I would like to connect my ps3, google chromecast, WDlive and possibly my PC.

So since I only have two hdmi inputs into my receiver and I its not easily accessible, I thought I would look at getting a monoprice (model 5557) 4x1 HDMI® Switch with Analog, Digital Coaxial, and Digital Optical Audio Outputs.
I thought I would input all my media into the box via hdmi, digital optical out to my receiver and hdmi to my projector. my concern are 1) will this product do what I want it to do and 2) will the media coming out of my pc or google chromecast only output 2 channel as the output source (projector speaker) is only two channels?

thanks

Hey Scoob',

I see your receiver can do HDMI surround processing.

Audio processing modes: Dolby Pro Logic IIx (Movie/Music/6.1/7.1), Dolby Digital, DTS 5.1, Dolby Digital Surround EX, DTS-ES, DTS Neo:6 (Music) Rotel RS 6.1/7.1, Stereo 2/5/7 channel, Mono

Why not get a 4x2 Matrix HDMI switch? That way you can run one HDMI to the receiver to get the high quality sound the other to the projector.

Monoprice:
Product # 5312

what I want to do is be able to strip the audio out to go to my stereo only. if I run hdmi to video output put I thought it may confuse the projector as I have an epson 2040.

alternative i guess another way of setting it up would to run everything into a switcher, then to my receiver then out to my projector which would solve everything....I think. Smile

Is there some issue with the Epson 2040?

What does it do if you run a source to the Rotel then onto the projector?

no sure. Haven't tried it yet.
I had my crt setup to go directly from my ps3 to my projector via hdfury and then out to my pj via db9 cable. I guess I never thought about having it go through my reciever, i'll have to try that tomorrow.
I think what you suggested is a better option to get all the media connected.

thanks

Look around too. There are more switchers that have 4 in 2 out plus optical/RCA audio just in case the HDMI route doesn't work. Always nice to have options.

Yeah, it's funny. Some stuff I need like Blurays have the best price on Amazon.ca. Other stuff is out to lunch.
Do you have anybody stateside that you can ship to and go pick up from? That's the best option if you are close enough to the border.
