Jeremy (AnalogRocks) talks about it from time to time and even still has some Beta gear he uses.

I sold a couple of sweet professional S-VHS decks before I moved. They were HEAVY. Wish I still had them, but couldn't justify moving them.

We had one too, but it got thrown out unbeknownst to me. Twas a Sony S-VHS.

Been using a Sony SLHF-600 over here and loving it. Great for recording MadMen episodes! Sounds is great, picture is very decent - even in BIII mode compared to VHS EP.

I still have 20-30 tapes that I made in the very early 80s, and have one Beta machine here that works. Not installed in the HT though.

Ah, which projector did you use to watch them with? Any pics of the old setup?

I have 4 Beta decks, SONY SLHF 400, 600 and 750 and a Sanyo

The 750 is my favorite. Haven't fired it up in a while though.

What settings did you normally record things with? (speed, sound, etc.)

Buffy The Vampire slayer, BII MTS stereo HiFi

Movies, BI HiFi

Music, BII or BIII depending on the length.

A friend of a fiend of mine use to lay down Digital Audio onto Beta. He used a A/D converter he grabbed at the pawn shop. Sounded good. I never got that far down the Beta-hole. Then I got into reel to reel.
Speaking of, a friend of mine had a black and white reel to reel Beta, alas it's gone now. Sad

Also have an ED-BETA cam. That had a great picture. Too much signal for my video capture VooDoo 3500 VIVO card at the time.

My GeForce Ti4600 Golden Sample VIVO card captured it fine though. Lot's of detail!

Ahh the good old days.

A buddy in TO had that same digital A/D converter. Was $2K CDN for it back in 1982 or so.

I still have buckets of tapes I recorded on VHS Hifi. All still work, I played one the other day with Barb.

Wow I didn't know it was that old. He paid $125 or $225 I believe. I know they were laying down band tracks with it at one point.
