Why not run 1920x818i? 1280x720p will always be an issue to fill the width with standard timings, might be fine for 16:9 though.

I will test the h.width change today.
But I read somewhere for the ECPs, when i have a "running" picture from the htpc i should use a t-connector for the H and V polarity.
I thought i will need this also for the NEC. If not was is here the correct setting? I'm using a old Nvidia Geforce with Windows XP because I have an Elsa 3d Revelator and wanted to test it with the projector.
How can I get 1920x818i with the Nvidia? I'm using a VGA to BNC cable.

Forget about ECPs, you have a vastly superior NEC. I dont think ive ever struck an RGB signal my PG wouldnt take.
The nvidia drivers have a custom resolution tool you can use, youre going to need that for 2.35:1 if you want it to look its best.
