I think of Cliffy and his BenQ W-whatever every single time I see a BenQ now. Wink

Speaking of Cliffy and his BenQ, I was thinking of getting a cheapie projector for the living room... Just something to pull out on the occasional Friday or Saturday night with a portable screen until I have a theater again... So, I was looking at some entry-level BenQ (again, because I keep thinking about Cliffy is such a BenQ fan Wink), and found out the Optoma HD20 was supposedly a tad better than the equivalent entry-level BenQ. Looks like they go around $300-350 used. Seems like a good little cheapie machine that I can use for the summer, then redeploy to Halloween window, back yard, and garage drive-in duty once the theater is built.

Anybody seen an HD20? Tolerable?

I thought you hated dlp. Wink

You might want to look into some high end used dlps depending on your budget. They come with the larger chip, which supposedly gives better performance. I only paid around $1k for my Marantz.

I do generally dislike single-chip DLP, but this is just to dick around with in my living room on a portable screen. $300 or $350 is about all I want to sink into something, so a grand is WAY too much. That's more than a third of the budget for the real projector I'll put in the theater. Plus, I want something small and light I can throw in the drawer in my office off the living room.

I saw a couple of Runco DLP projectors locally. There was one that had a busted color wheel that was just listed "best offer" that I thought offering him something stupid like $100 for and fixing it, and there was (I think) the same model for $500. But, they're bigger and heavier, and I just don't care that much at this point. Wink

Yeah I basically am giving it away. It sucks. Divorce sucks.

Finally fired up the stack last night, did a quick touch up and watched Interstellar.

Holy crap, great CRT flick!!!!!! Wink

IF you can.. and only IF.. do it after the 15th of May. Barb and I would likely drive out if that's the case.

Cliff,
Take the stack with you. You will more than likely regret leaving it there at a later date. Put a cheap digital in its place to sell the house.

Too late, Craig got the stack today, he emailed me earlier. Guess I gotta get my house together to have a meet. Next year...

Dear Curt;

Yeah, you might be having the next Meet. No Meet for me this Fall. Long work related story.

I'm thinking about hosting a Meet next May, after school is done (which means after I am done teaching).

Dr. Little Dog

PS: Did you see my reply email to you about the LCP09 stainless steel screw/rubber washers I still need?
