So I've got another PT-D4000U in and this one has a seemingly simple issue. Power it on, everything operates as normal, bulb lights up, fans kick in etc..., after about 15 seconds the projector shuts down and the TEMP error LED on the front lights red, the fans kick in high speed mode and then the projector goes back into standby finally.

So I hooked the network cable up to it, went into the system self test status page, and it says FAN (LAMP1) FAILED.

I bought the service manual for it since I couldn't find a freebie one, and from looking at it, the A.P.C. board is the control board for the fans and other moving parts in the projector.

I could use some of your wisdom on this one Mac, I can send you the service manual if needed. I don't think this is a very serious issue since everything DOES actually operate, the projector just thinks the fan has an error that it doesn't.

So I assume your saying that lamp fan 1 is spinning? First thing, is the fan sending a sense signal? Have you tried another fan?

Okay, lamp fan 1 is not spinning. (its internal, thought the status page was referring to the external one where the lamp cover is, which is working).

So Lamp 1 fan is not spinning. Didn't notice it right away because there were some wires over it., and no, haven't tried another fan, will do though

Unbelievable - I plugged in the external fan to the internal (LAMP1) fan that wasn't spinning, well the external fan spins fine off that, so the fan itself is burned out... Whoda thunk? Razz

Kind of like when I moved into my current house. So many things were going wrong that when the hall light with two bulbs stopped working first thing I did was pull out the dimmer switch... turned out both bulbs just burned out Laughing

Now back to that other stuff.
