I was watching it and the pic started to flicker. Now it is black with an occasional flicker and the scan fail led is lit. I changed both the vertical and horizontal boards and no change.

Check the 17 volt line to see if it's still at 17 volts. Are all the yellow LEDs lit?

Scan fail can also be caused by the power supply, either video switching board, the H shift board next to the H board, bad yoke connectors, yoke switches.

I finally got a chance to check this thing out. The voltage was 17.6 volts. I set it at 17 volts. Not sure if that was off enough to cause the problem or it was something else. It has been about 3 weeks since it was on. The scan led is off but all the adjustments were all out of wack as well. I spent some time adjusting things. Even had to adjust the master H width trim pot. But it is now working perfect and looks great.
