Hello all,

I've done as much reading as I can but now I need some help. I'm in the UK.

I purchased recently a Graphics 808S/E which has had Panasonic tubes put in and I think probably a compatible focus board put in it.

Anyway it has the post 98 HV section. The EHT board has both LEDs lit. The fuse on the board is not blown. I've refered to this document and understand it generally: http://www.curtpalme.com/docs/BarcoServiceBulletin_R762716_New_EHT.pdf

(Is the MOSFET refered to in this document actually on the EHT board or somewhere else? I have a spare EHT board from a Data 500 which could donate parts - the MOSFET for instance.)

I understand that at least the top LED indicates the fault could be in either the EHT board, the Quad or the Splitter and that exchanging is the only sure fire way to fault find.

However, contrary to the above document, and general advice, I've also read in the archives that most Quadruplers are pretty similar and that one out of an 800 should do the job. I have a spare Quad from a Data 500 which is the same as the one out of the 800 - 761743 I believe. Someone said Curt supplies spacers so it will fit (but I can probably rig something up). I also have a spliter from a 500 and another spliter that I can't remember where I picked up, p/n: 1077056.

The biggest no no seems to be putting the wrong EHT board in without changing the jumper on the motherboard. Can someone clarify what I can try first. Will my spare Quad do or do both LEDs being on indicate something else.

All input welcome. Many thanks in advance,

Simon

Most likely the quadrupler is bad, but it can also be the HV splitter on rare occasions.

Try fitting the spare quad, and if not, I have the correct one in stock.

Quad or splitter failure can light either or both LEDs.

Many thanks Curt for the quick reply. Much appreciated.

To confirm though the quad is a different part number from a Data 500. Ok?

new frame set= old quad + old EHT + any splitter (JUMPER)
new frame set= new quad + old EHT + any splitter (NEVER)

old frame set= new quad + new EHT + any splitter (JUMPER)
old frame set= old quad + new EHT + any splitter (JUMPER)
old frame set= old quad + old EHT + any splitter (OK)

Simon, with old quad the situation of your 808s/E (new frame set) ... is:
Code:
new frame set= old quad + new EHT + any splitter (OK)

Thanks Domenico for your clarification - you've been really really helpful.

Think I'm going to drill a big hole through the plastic outer chassi to get a socket in for the bottom bolt on the Quad. As mentioned previously I've got a back injury and lifting difficulties. I've just put all the tubes and boards back in after transporting it home and don't want to have to strip it down again really. Sad Don't think there is an easier way is there?

Take the plastic cover off, should come off pretty easily.

Ok. Taken a closer look and because it's been painted black I couldn't see the screws. Also I remember my Data 500 being a lot harder to take the plastic shell off - you couldn't just take the sides off like on this, if memory serves me right.

Thanks! Smile

Still nursing my back so not got this done yet.

Quick question though. As we know the Quadrupler I want to try is a slightly different fit to the chassi and somebody said Curt can supply spacers.

So I thought: Does the quad need to be bolted/earthed to the chassi or can I try it just sitting loose inside while floor mounted?

Only just got round to this. Turned out to be the quad. It's sitting loose at the moment so need to look more closely at how to mount and may come back to this thread. Anyway on to next problem with the scan switches - will post a new thread. Thanks all.

You might want to review this document. It provides more description regarding compatibility of splitters / quads / and EHT's
