This 1.25" CRT unit used with the big screen magnifier and a powerful set of binoculars kills my 8500. While watching the Broncos game last week I felt like I was on the field!

Are you projecting it onto a 4" screen?? Otherwise I'd think it would be so dim you couldn't see it, binocs or no...
Or are you using the binocs to look AT the CRT???

I had one of those too It's not a projector, it's direct view. The magnifier goes over the scsreen just to make the image bigger!

Not really... *That* TV - the TR-1020 - was B&W. That's what I remembered and was asking about. Looks it wasn't until a couple of years later, the CT-101 was color.

Quote: | Travelvision is the name given by National/Panasonic for its "mini TV" with a 1.5 inch (35 mm) screen diagonal. The beginning of this production series is the TR-1000 with conventional cathode-ray tube, followed by five additional models. This Panasonic TR-1010 can be compared to the Sinclair MTV1 in terms of size and screen diagonal, however it lacks a multistandard tuner. In 1984, the TR-1030 and the CT-101 (with a color CRT screen!) close the era of the tradition of "cathode ray tube television sets" by Panasonic. Later on, large quantities of LCD TVs will follow, all coming with a so-called active matrix display. |
Hard to believe it took until 1984 for a small color TV to hit the market!
If you look down that page a little further to 1985 or 1986, my old man had one of those Casios. I think it was the on with the mirror. It seemed so amazing at the time. I imagine he still has it in some drawer somewhere.

Bah, semantics. Panasonic made a mini CRT color TV. SOOO 'that' little TV WAS available in color. You proved it.

I forgot to mention the chest pumping 1.5" speaker. This baby boasts a .25mm peak to peak travel. Picture if you will, the old memorex tape advertisment. The one with the guy sitting in the chair with his hair blowing back. I have to be very careful with the volume control!
Does anybody have a guess what the anode voltage is? It has 4 AA's in series for 6volts with an inverter I'm sure.
I am calling this a rear projection tv when the big screen adapter is used.
