My only concern at this point is the range of the Zigby transmitter. To ensure a robust signal in a busy RF environment (cellular repeaters, WI-FI, etc.), I ordered a high-power Zigby repeater which should cut through anything.

I can't wait to start playing with the converter!

That's a good point. You do have what most consider a larger than average home theater. Wink
That said, the range is supposedly very good and can go through walls as well. If you have a busy RF environment then a high power repeater is probably a good idea. I'd be curious to hear how well it works without however.

"Two seats seem to be missing along with Arnold"

Are you still holding your breath for that invitation promised??? Laughing

My interest in this dropped to near ZERO when I read he was installing a IR repeater and was using factory remotes.

Well, the day to say goodbye to the wonderful world of analog has arrived...

Leo Bassett arrives in the morning to prepare the 12k for the trip to the scrap metal yard. The old girl served us well, but the three hour warm-ups, no ("real") 3D, and the world of 4k has finally tipped the balance.

Does this mean that I get kicked out of the forum now???

Um, if you're seriously going to junk it, post it in the buy/sell forum here. Beware the stampede of people that may show up at your door though. Very Happy

Good thing you didn't post this when I was in DC last month. My 12,000 mile road trip might have turned into 13,000...

Your invite had been pending for years...

The problem is that I promised Leo when I was ready to replace the 12k I would let him pick out the "best" cinema parts (prisms, ILA's, latest circuit boards, etc.) for his own projector. That leaves only hundreds of pounds of copper and steel only good for the recyclers.

All in all, if you eventually make the trip, the NEW end result will be worth it.

Congrats on the change. Since you mentioned 4k, I am guessing that you are going with a cinema dlp from Barco, Christie or DP. Unless you think the Sony can light up your screen.

Arnold, Curt may put the "u" in CRT but we are a home theater forum, and you are living each and every one of our dreams with your theater.
I am looking forward to your progress reports.

You are correct. I decided to go with the Christie 4k Digital Cinema projector. I had been waiting almost a year for a "B-Stock" unit to become available, but no such luck so I finally "bit the bullet". Now the fun part will be to decide whether to go with a NAS or DAS solution.
