OK, so the SLingbox works great at streaming your content from a cable TV box to a computer, tablet, iphone, etc. That is not EXACTLY what I want to do. I have a pretty robust network at home. My daughter has 2 rooms. Her bedroom upstairs and a sort-of playroom/guest bedroom downstairs. Instead of buying/renting a cable box for downstairs, I want to stream the content from her cable box upstairs to a box connected to her tv downstairs utilizing the network. I also want to stream the content in my office over a wireless link to TV in a building about 300 yards away.

Anybody ever seen a box to box place shifting device?

I found this . . .

http://www.justaddpower.com/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=16&vmcchk=1&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=45

but DAMN that's expensive. The ROI over a set top box rental is like 8 years!

The Just Add Power stuff is actually really good hardware. Good stuff and a good company. It seems really expensive because your use case of eliminating a cable box isn't at all its intended purpose. Compared to $15,000 worth of matrix switching plus baluns, the Just Add Power stuff can start looking pretty good if you're doing a bar/restaurant or other light commercial, or even a large residential project.
