Well its started dimming on its own anyway....
My CRT monitor died earlier in the week and I haven't had a chance to open it up and attempt repair, so ive been using this Epson as a monitor...
Its bright as hell on this 72" screen though.... Blinding even on low power. Even the black is blindingly bright.

If the digital suddenly started getting a lot dimmer there is probably a crack in the bulb and it is degassing. Pull the bulb and look for a crack.

Ah, than I doubt the bulb is cracked. Could be a ballast.

Yeah mate if the bulb was cracked id say itd stay dull or simply not strike at all, and would probably be all silver and black inside. Could be a lot of things though, its at least 7 years old, has done around 1,400 hours mostly on low power, which is 1,650 lumens.
The old Mitsubishi SEU-1 I had did 3,600 hours on its original bulb... Was unusable by 3,000 in my opinion, but id sold it to a friend by 1,200 hours.
