Neat!
I don't ummm.... actually *have* a CRT PJ yet, but am an admirer of them.

Would it be helpful to have a sub forum for a particular brand? NEC, Sony, and of course Runco. (and other, Chip)
Perhaps combine setup & troubleshooting to avoid too many sub forums.

HI Kal,
It would be nice to see some kind of break down for each of the major CRT brand under the CRT Forum. This would make it easy to find information on a particular brand of projector. Sort of like
CRT Forum
1. Ampro
2. Barco
3. Electrohome
4. So on and so on
Just my 2 cents but I guess that's what the SEARCH is for but allot of times the search doesn't pull everything out and you have to wade through so many post just to find specific information on a particular projector and us Ampro guy (Very Few) truly need help.

I second (third) the CRT specific screen forum.
A search feature would be nice too, if it's available.

Also, CRT specific sources.

How about a "How-To" forum? (How-to hang, how-to converge, etc.)
I actually turned digital two years ago (don't shoot me), but I'm considering buying a NEC 6pg+ with good tubes from an AVS member.
Probably not much difference in overall quality from my Panasonic AE500 (except black levels) but should be fun to play with...
BTW, great site Kal and Curt!

Thanks for all the feedback guys!
It's been a couple of weeks now and I've been looking at how things are progressing on the site.
I don't think there's enough traffic to warrant breaking the one main "CRT Projectors" forum down into many such as "CRT Setup", "CRT troubleshooting", "Screens", "DVD players", "HD sources", "HTPC", etc.
It also destroys any sense of community as posts are missed (OT or not). People don't seem to read in more then one forum too... too much work. IMHO, far too many forums break things down completely and you end up with 56 forums with only 2-3 posts in each and zero sense of community.
So for the time being, everything will stay as it is. If things pick up in the future then of course we'll revisit.
I did add a 'photo album' section however for those that want to show off their setups. That works better then an actual forum section where people post pics as the photo album pages are directly tied to each user (there's an album button on each post and a link in everyone's profile page). You can comment on pictures as well so nothing is lost by doing it this way.
Of course, more suggestions are welcome. I do listen!
Kal

A discussion of dvd player/scalers and HTPC's we use with our CRT's would be nice. Comparisons of our various combinations of source devices and display devices, suggestions of economical scalers, how we get max performance out of our HTPC, etc.

I myself would like to see a rptv subforum, crt powered of course.
They share similar electronics and we would benifit in the areas of troubleshooting and modifications by having an area for rp techs and hobbists to come and share their knowledge. The rp forum on AVS is terrible. They've grouped the lcd rp with the dlp rp with the dila rp with the crt rp. The only things they all have in common is a mirror and a screen.

While I do own a monster CRT-based RPTV, I have to wonder how many people still have these units.
BTW, they should have grouped them in pixelated and non-pixelated appearance.
