I have a DVDO vp50 and its been good to me..... It seems like all the lumigens either don't have enough inputs or too many....
I have 4 hdmi inputs.... I don't need composit, s video etc.... Is there something to fill that void?

The mini is meant to go after your AVR or AVP. However I would appreciate a slightly larger unit with feet that could sit nicely on a shelf as I don't plan to wall mount it, like an XS+ without the analog stuff. Maybe they could call it the Mini+

Well i don't think there ever can be to many inputs, but i never use audio in and outputs on VP, and when a composite input is needed i shows out not to have 3D comb filter, so for any new VP/ Scaler i think that lots of HDMI in and outputs would do.
And then make high quality hdmi to RGBHV out converter, and a Composite 3D comb filter to HDMI out converter. Like add on parts for those who need it..
And then they wont make the converters, like to few will buy it..
So i agree.. A Mini extra ( The + is already taken..) would fit 95% of the market.

True, but we all know it makes a mess of cables extra box and remote.. or more complex setup.. So for the normal non nerd user its not the nice option, and i'm sure the reason why anyone still buy DVDO..

I now have a mini+ so I can do 72Hz. I was lucky and did not have to send my unit to Lumagen for any hardware mods.
Cost is $500 retail, just email Lumagen if you're interested. They will send you a code to enter (it is all managed by software) and if it works you are done. If it doesn't work at the higher rate you need to send it to Lumagen for hardware tweaks (included in the price). Jim estimates that 80% of the units work at the higher rate without hardware changes.
It does make the mini run hotter as it is basically like overclocking a CPU. This is why it is not marketed as an official product.
