I have attached a photo of the highly discussed Dallas and IC421 chips on my YA board. The chip labeled IC421 does not seem to have the risky lot number that I've been reading about. It appears to be 836A01E. Is that right? Am I looking in the right place?

Also, a point of interest is that the black plastic shell of the Dallas chip is bulging slightly on the end with the logo. Is that normal?

I wonder if these YA boards run hot?

All the expert advice and information you guys share in this forum is greatly appreciated.

Your IC421 is out of a good lot and will never fail.

Don't run your G90 with your Dallas chip like that. It may strike the tubes and ruin them. If you want the Dallas chip data tested, and if good copied to a new chip, you may pull it and send it to me to duplicate. Email me for details.

I only ran it briefly to check the hours and verify that it functioned after transport. After that I decided to leave it unplugged until I have a chance to learn all I can here, and until I replace the red c-element. (This projector is the subject of the "Scary" topic)

That's great news about the IC421, Craig. Thanks. I will email you about the Dallas chip. Thanks to information you guys have shared in this forum, I found out about these chips before watching a really 'bad' movie.

Got your email and just sent one back.

It's ok to have the projector in standby, but don't power up the projector at all with that Dallas chip. If the Dallas chip data becomes corrupt, the tubes may instantaneously get struck (ruined) without any warning what so ever. Literally, it will happen before you even know that it has happened and there will be no warning signs.
