OK had to pull this off the pile of shite in the corner as my MSI laptop just died.

SOB won't boot from the XP disk in an external CD rom drive via USB after I told it to boot from the external CD ROM.

Man this thing sucks!

Thanks for the hint! I used your trick to update my ACER 10" with W7 starter to Ultimate! At first it did not seem to work and I got an error message, but I think it was because there was an update pending. When the update went through, starter was gone! Thumbs Up
