Yes, but to my knowledge this only mutes the picture to be displayed, not the menus. It certainly doesn't turn off the tubes, you can still see the edges of the raster. As it is, I'm going to be shutting down the tubes to try to fix the H Deflection board, so if it ends up giving me an error code, I'll certainly post it.

Fark no!! Definately not, you can still get a spot burn cause if it switches sources or loses sync with a source it will turn off the pic mute!!

Correct, don't use the mute function. That only mutes the video signal, not the signal and power from the tubes. A deflection fail will still burn the tubes as the raster collapses.
