I don't even think any liquid was spilled into the unit. Looks like 'natural' causes. Smile

Imaging the owners reaction from the smoke bellowing out and the arcing noise...... Must of been cooking for a few.......

Did a solder joint directly from the AC rail hit chassis ground?

I"m pretty sure that this was just a bad wave solder joint that went amok.

Looks like it smoldered after the AC chokes, but before or at the bridge rectifier. Yeah, pretty scary. Frigging Sony!

There's a really good chance that a new PS board is available for it on ebay. Check the bay by the model number.
