I'm looking for a simple low cost IR repeater kit for a hidden Comcast DVR/cable box. All I need is maybe two emitters.

Anyone have experience with the Cables To Go Impact Acoustics 40430 Infrared (IR) Remote Control Repeater Kit?

or the XANTECH 29110DBKit Designer Hidden Link Infrared Kit?

I am not familiar with those personally but here is something that might work for you. I just got it myself.
http://www.amazon.com/XANTECH-CB12-1-Zone-Connecting-Block/dp/B000NU4VTI (I already had a 12v dc adapter so i didn't need to buy 1)
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10105&cs_id=1010503&p_id=8060&seq=1&format=2 (i plugged into my receiver but you might need this also)

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10105&cs_id=1010503&p_id=8059&seq=1&format=2

maybe this setup would work for you and if you have a 12vdc 500mA adapter then this would be a lower cost solution.

I have the units made by Buffalo (IR-100 and IR-250, IIRC) and they are OK. I think all IR systems are a bit problematic, but they are fast and easy. Mostly, you gotta' decide if that's what you want to deal with -- mine go bonkers with CFL and the filter they give only sorta works. I tried Curt's foam trick and different filters (even a bandpass filter from Edmund Optics) and couldn't get results I like...so I switch out all the CFLs.

All seem to more or less work fine. MC, you need a special receiver/pickup to deal with CFL stuff. They're not cheap, but work great. We did the local Best Buy boardroom years ago, and the IR sensors had a range of about 10' when the fluoresents were turned on. We dealt with Xantech, and they had special filtered IR sensors at $80 dealer cost each I think. Range jumped to 40-50' instantly. Worked great. Xantech has awesome tech support as well.|

Oh, and I refuse to deal with Monoprice. Clueless clowns.
