It looks like LG is going to be releasing their 55 inch OLED for $8k this summer. I wonder how long it will take them to get down to $2k.

Hope it looks a lot more natural than the image I'm seeing on my laptop.

What laptop do you have? Most laptop LCD displays are pretty bad - even compared to traditional LCD displays.

2-3 years. 30-50% price cut each year as production increases.

I think it may be sooner than that. It is predicted that OLED will have 30% market share in a couple of years. To do that, they will have to be below $2k. I think we will know more at Cedia. OLED is something I definitely want to take an extended look at the show. Wow, it is only five months to Cedia.

15" Apple MacBook Pro, so no slouch in the graphics dept.

I'm waiting for SED, or an equivalent, to materialize........ good thing I'm happy with my G90, 34XBR960 and 32XBR100 as it's going to be a long time before a technology that had the potential of SED to become a reality.

Wow, how old is it? My 2011 15" MBP w/LED-backlit LCD and glass display is very nice for a notebook display... Much better than the older CFL-lit matte-plastic-diffusion layer on older machines. If you crank the torch-mode brightness down a bit and view in a dimmed environment, I think it's a pretty damn nice display.

Looks pretty over saturated on my FW900 might intentional though. I saw first hand the little Sony OLED a while back, one of the best pictures I've ever seen.

Hasn't SED become pretty much completely abandoned?

Unfortunately yes. Showed lots of promise but the best technology doesn't always make it to market.
