I discovered this monitor for sale at 9pm, I contacted the guy selling it and he told me that he would be throwing it in the bin that very night (I wish he had) So I told him I would leave right away to get the monitor, of course he lived 1.5hours TTC ride away from me in the more eastern part of Scarborogh and then an additional 10-15min walk. So yeah I picked up the FW900 at 12:30am and spent 30min heaving the son of a bitch towards the nearest bus stop. Then takinga 1.25hour bus ride and then a subway ride and then another 15-20min walk down Yonge street to my apartment only to discover I had lost my keys somewhere along the way. After successfully breaking into my own apartment and setting the behemoth down on my desk and hooking it all up I was rewarded for my efforts with the sound of dying electronics and failure to function. It may have been the worst day of my life.

Hell I thought getting two G520P's in my back seat hurt! Have you gone to physio therapy for the back, arms, and neck pain yet?
...and of course loosing your key's is the worst! That and a flat tire on the car with a full tank of gas.

I drove from Vancouver to Toronto in a 1979 Trans Am with two Dell p1110 (21") crts in the back seats. xD

Hi guys,
My Fw900 just died last week. It was going out of focus occasionally with a slight buzzing noise then pop back into focus.
I went to turn it on last week and got a pop and a small flash.
Now it won't start. It will just try and startup up and shut off 3 times In a row.
Someone said it is the high voltage transformer?
Anyone know a place in Toronto that can repair it?

Here's an easier solution for replacing a failed FW900 CRT:

If motion blur is your problem with LCD's (not black levels), then the wonderful news is that there's now a new strobe backlight system that reduces 92% of motion blur; to 1.4 millisecond pulses (very similar to FW900 average CRT phosphor decay), in certain models of very newly released computer monitors. Check out that thread!

Agreed, but that's not the point.
Although we're comparing apples to oranges, both apples and oranges are edible and provide essential nutrients, for a diet.
The point is that a number of gamers have replaced their FW900's already. These new LCD panels have 12x clearer motion than older 60 Hz displays, 2ms pixel persistence completely bypassed by the strobing, with an actual measured MPRT of 1.4ms (similar to phosphor decay). There's a link to a high speed video proof in that thread.
