Sorry, but today the look of the room looks quite different. I admit to sometimes miss the old one.

The new theatre should have basically the same functionality as the old room, only a bit more cinema focused. UNfortunately today I still still store the instruments under the roof.

Several options for screen arrangement had been considered

Here are more pics from April this year. In the mean time I had to clean the den from instruments so they are back! Also added new rear speakers. Still need to make new photos of this stuff.

Some changes happened in the last year. I've upgraded speakers and amplifiers and thought that would now be a quite decent sound only to lear later on: acoustical room treatment with mineral fibre absorbers was much more important.

This is the making of one piece on the ceiling:

This is the room design. The yellow field is the absorber for first sound reflection on the ceiling. Corner bass traps and absorbers for first reflection in front of walls in red.

Now the room looks like this (the flash light destroys the whole atmosphere of course)

I hope the projector will cool OK with that cover on. Looks like you may have covered up some of the vents.

Here are some acoustic measurements with the new room setup and audio gear. Recorded with an Bruel & Kjaer professionel spl meter on an auzentech forte soundcard.

Room acoustics > 200 Hz seem to be okay. The dip around 600 Hz comes from the speakers. Back surround speakers don't have it. They have familiar components but 3 way instead of the 4 way Atlas Compact.

Those are the waterfall spectra:

@ all

major revamp in Nov 2011: 3.25 m wide curved acoustic transparent screen (Phifer Sheerweave) and projector upgrade to 10PG. Surround speakers are Fosgate Audionics THX SD-180 and MC-220 from the 90ies. Anybody knows how to configure the ports of the dipole bipole SD-180? A manual would help.

Conversion to 10PG+ is up next
