Does not turn on. When plugged in, you hear a click like it's trying to come on. Indicator on the power button shows "lamp". If left plugged in, it will cycle from lamp and go to standby and timer, then back to lamp. It keeps doing this. I read in another place where if it's not the lamp, it's either the ballast or the DMD board. I'm thinking it's the board. Any other ideas? I have another dlp set i'll be posting about once i get the model number.

Hello other Arkansas person. If you have put a new lamp in it, it is probably the ballast.

I read this post and just moved on because based on your other posts I can't tell if your looking for help to repair some of your stuff or just looking for quick fixes. If your not at least slightly involved in electronics repair, even as a hobbyist, then you really shouldn't be poking around in high voltage areas. Bad things can happen.

Fayetteville, i would bet it's the ballast. It's beyond my skill to know how to test this for sure, other than try to get a new on from samsung or ebay and try it out.
3 things break often in dlps. Bulb, Ballast, and Color Wheel. It isn't the color wheel, and i'm assuming you put a new bulb in it... process of elimination. Seems like those 3 things are like, 99% of the problems.

It's more of a hobby and it has been since the early nineties. I'm just looking for some direction as i really want to repair what i have. i know all about the risk and have worked on well over 100 different sets but i don't consider myself an expert and always run into something new. i hope someone can help me.

Sounded like maybe the lamp was trying to strike.

When you first turn it on check to see if the fan is spinning. Then listen to hear if the color wheel spins up.

Hmmm, this guy hasn't been around since the 14th. Wonder if he was poking around that ballast with the set plugged in....

LOL, no I'm still here. Actually just now getting around to working on it. I have a new lamp module on the way as well as a remote fore it. Will update once i get that put in.
