Interesting, I had no idea packard bell made stereos before computers, in fact, I never heard of any computer company making any electronics before they went to computers! Kinda cool..
The old zenith is nice too. We have an early 60s Zenith console radio, you have the full line of options which include AM, FM, and.... Record player! it all still works, my nephew broke the original needle so we needed to get a replacement, but otherwise its all original!
The nice thing about the old zenith is you can open the back of the unit up and unhook the phono cables from the player since they are standard RCA type cables, then pop a CD player on it and voila!
Great units, picked mine up off the curb, can't believe what people toss out these days...

Just FYI, I don't know what your long term plans are... while all those pieces are really nice and fun to play with (if you have the room), I don't think any of them are considered to be collectible.. yet.
There's still piles of these around, you can find them on CL every day in every city. If you want to get into collectibles, then look for stuff like the Philco Predicta:

I personally like cool wire recorders:

If you do get into restoring older units, become friends with a guy that can restore wood cabinets as well as you can electronics.
Keep in mind that this whole website, and my income has been established on other people's junk.
Best score of the year: Removing Altec Lansing circa 1978 drivers from an arena in Northern BC, bringing them back home, throwing them on eBay and getting $2K for them
