Hello to All I kindly need some assistance with regards to connecting a computer to my Marquee 8500; The system in question is a HP Digital Entertainment System (model Z-556); It comes pre-loaded with Windows Media Center Edition and is equipped with an NVidia GEForce 6600 video card. I would very much like to know your recommendations as to what the resolution output should be as well as any other required parameter adjustments (such as setting the refresh rate, etc). Also, my input card for the Marquee 8500 is an Input Shifter Module and I noted that the board has some jumpers on them ( +/- Horz, +/- Vert, on/off Horz, on/off Vert); Can anyone please qualify where they need to be set? Why are you using the Input Shifting instead of the Video Input directly??
Picture quality would be a lot better.

I use a scaler, so can not help with the PC.

you need powerstrip if it is supported by your graphics card.

1080p timings:
hor backporch = 280-290
hor synch width = 100
hor front porch = 60-70

ver bp = 24
vert sync width = 16
vert front porch = 8

vert refresh = 60hz

this is a bit over 160 mhz.

or what you could try is 1080i at 72 hz and a bit higher contrast setting.

use the rgbhv on the vim as steve suggested.

try to use as much phosphor (wide) as possible but do not go over the edge of the tube face.

Okay fellows, Thanx! I was wondering where everyone was lurking First off, I had no idea that the picture would be compromised by using that Image Shifter Module; Okay off to the trash bin with that one. I did not use the main BNC Video Input module because I have another system running on it; However, I did find another small type module the same size as the Image Shifter Module which is labelled on one row as "IN" with 5 BNC connectors and "OUT" on the other row also with 5 BNC connectors. Am I safe to assume that this would obviously be a better choice than the Image Shifter Module, and, will it provide with with at least as good an input as the main video module? I really appreciate those settings provided for 1080P setting (Merci Beaucoup DVH99 ); Yet, I am curious as to why some people recommend not exceeding 1080i or 720p for this projector; My main video input is set for 1080p and the picture looks great. The projector is in like new condition with absolutely pristine tubes. If someone can kindly provide me with the settings for 1080i that would be absolutely wonderful since I'd like to see for myself what the difference is; I distinctly remember seeing a utility which allows me to modify these settings as were outlined in a reply here. Incidentally, what does 1440X810 correspond to (1080i or 720p). Looking forward to your replies - Cheers!

The other in-out card should be ok, it was designed for stacking 2 marquee's over under and showing the same picture.
If 1080P looks good to you then that's great, but I think 720P or 810P looks best on an 8 inch machine. 1440 x 810 is exactly 75% of 1080P. Try them all and see, the guide I sent you talks about setting up channels and you can have a different channel for every resolution.

You should be able to modify the timings and set a completely custom resolution with the nVidia control panel.

I agree - Unless I'm mistaken, I do recall a control panel where these settings could be effectively adjusted. My question is whether this video card is of sufficient quality to resolve these HD formats. And, I don't know what the actual settings need to be; Is there a master list published somewhere that has these details (for 1080i, 810p, etc)? Thanx

I dont see why it wouldnt be. The rest of the machine will be important though.
