so i've decided to use a htpc to feed my cine 9... im not very upto date with pc's so a friend of mine has helped me choose my gear. we were thinking about running the htpc to a yamaha rx-v667 amp, then running the amp to a hdfury3.

htpc > rx-v667 > hdfury3 > cine 9

Looks nice...The only thing I'm not sure about is the Intel Graphics. I'm don't know how tweakable it is. I was a big ATI fan until recently because PowerStrip is a bit flakey with the newer boards so I went with Nvidia on my recent build, it works very well. The nice thing about Nvidia is you don't need PowerStrip. You can create custom resolutions within the driver.

I am a little confused. Is the fury for video or just audio? Before spending mmoney on a fury for video, you should find out if you think you need it.

I concur with Nvidia. If you use XP, then you can create a custom gamma curve as well.

Looks like a very nice system. I do think it has a few short comings. The wd 2tb Greens are great drives for storing lots of data, but they are really slow. I would spend the extra couple hundred and get a SSD for the operating system drive. This makes the most noticeable speed difference in computers today. I would also get a Nvidia or ATI graphics card, intel cards are super slow and have comparatively poor driver support. While the 2500k processor is nothing short of awesome, its way overkill for an htpc the "k" designation means that the multiplier is unlocked which is a feature that overclockers pay extra for and has no benefits for someone who will not be overclocking their chip.

The 2500k has the better intel graphics. While I would prefer Nvidia, the Intel graphics is more than powerful enough for HTPC duty.

If you look at his chain, it is for video. I assume because the motherboard has an HDMI out for blu ray playback, that is what he intends to use.
